New To Yoga?
Whether you want to get in shape, are looking for a way to relieve stress, or just want to find your bliss, Mighty Yoga offers a safe, comfortable space for you to explore your mind, body and soul. Check out the video below from our Ithaca studio to see some of the basic poses that create the foundation of our Mighty Flow classes.
We welcome new students every week to Mighty Yoga, and would be happy to have you! First, check out our schedule and look for Foundation, Community, Get Aligned, and Flow and Restore classes. These classes are most suitable for beginners. We also offer a FUNdamentals workshop series designed specifically for new students. The workshop breaks down the basic poses, alignment, and transitions that are part of our vinyasa flow. Whatever class you choose, please arrive 15 minutes early and let your instructor know that it’s your first class.
Our classes flow between a series of yoga postures (also known as asanas) in a way that cultivates mindfulness and develops strength in the body by linking the breath to movement. Because Power Yoga does not follow a set series of poses, expect each class to be unique and invigorating! Students are encouraged to explore their physical and mental limits while our caring instructors offer variations and modifications to meet each student’s individual needs.
While all of our classes are taught in the Power Vinyasa style, our teachers and their approach to yoga vary greatly. Sometimes it can take a few classes to find the right fit so be adventurous and try different classes.
When you walk in the door to Mighty Yoga, you’ll be greeted by friendly staff and teachers. Introduce yourself, smile, relax and don’t hesitate to ask questions about the studio or your practice. And you can always contact us if you want to get in touch outside of class!
To make your experience at Mighty Yoga as blissful as possible, please take the time to read our Studio Etiquette and FAQ pages. For more information about yoga’s benefits, here is a list from Yoga Alliance of the Top 10 Ten Reasons to Try Yoga.
NEW STUDENT 3-FOR-1 SPECIAL
All new students receive 2 free classes upon the purchase of their first class at Mighty. These 2 extra classes give you a chance to try different teachers and different styles, to help you decide if this type of yoga works for you. Also remember that yoga, like any new endeavor, is going to take some time before it comes easily. For those brand new to yoga, it takes about 3 classes to get an idea of the poses, allowing you to shift out of your head and get more in tune with your body.
