Jonas McCaffery
Jonas’ classes definitely follow a curve. It starts and ends on the mat, but he spends the time in the middle building up to standing, lunging, and balancing, sometimes on one leg. He often shows a couple of flows at a slower tempo so that his class knows the proper alignment and feel for each pose, then combines the flows together and repeats. This way, you can build up to just focus on your breath and the movement, letting go of any outside thoughts. Jonas’ music playlist often has “medieval tavern” music, that way you can feel like a warrior, and then ends with a gentle piano serenade while his class cooldowns in savasana.
Jonas is from a Nebraska native who has become a New England lover. He took his yoga training at Online Yoga School, taught by Stephanie Ball-Mitchell, at the start of the pandemic. He’s been practicing yoga for almost 10 years, first for yoga’s athletic gains and pursuits, and now more a restorative focus.
Outside of yoga, Jonas is an avid weightlifter, and yoga has helped his fitness journey with weightlifting become more well-rounded. Also, Jonas hikes, reads fantasy and science fiction novels, plays Dungeons and Dragons, and loves to just hangout with his fiance Mikey. Jonas is also a hobbyist letterpress printer and collage artist, and hopes that at some point, he’ll find the time to pick that up again.
Jonas has a BA in Media and Cultural Studies from Florida Atlantic University.
