Honor your body through mindful movement
Are you beginning to notice changes in your body, how it moves and feels when you practice yoga? Have you had injuries that require you to change or modify your practice? Do you notice stiff or achy joints when you first begin to move that seem to feel better once you move? Your yoga practice and community can support you and your body as it moves through the natural changes we go through over time; physically, emotionally and socially.
This class will explore props, modifications and movements to support your asana practice. It will include a focus on the mind/body and breath connection between your pelvic floor and your deep core muscles. There will be an emphasis on building strength as we flow through our poses as well as through other exercises. By improving our flexibility and strength we improve our mobility. The practice will include a longer juicy warm up to encourage the production of nourishing fluids for your joints and to warm the muscles to prepare for movement. This may include myo-fascial release techniques that help to loosen and move connective tissue that may feel stuck, active range of motion of joints (ROM) and/or CARS (controlled articular rotations), sun salutation variations and more. Standing flows and balance play will include your favorite poses, arm balances and backbends. We’ll finish with a savasana long enough for your nervous system to take in all the movement you just completed.
Like our Mighty or Mindful Flow this practice will support you both on and off the mat.
Self-possessed, resolute, act
without any thoughts of results,
open to success or failure.
This equanimity is yoga.
