Mighty Yogi of the Month: April 2016
HI, I'M KELLY AND THIS IS HOW I KICK ASANA!
Name: Kelly Makosch
Occupation: Finger Lakes Land Trust - Director of Development and Communications
Favorite yoga pose: a tie between half moon and legs up the wall!
Yoga is...where I remember I need balance.
What do you love most about yoga? As soon as I walk into the studio, I feel better. Yoga gives me a chance to be quiet, to slow down, and regain the perspective I seem to lose all too often.
What fuels you? Family, friends, everything outside and a healthy dose of competition
My NON-guilty pleasure is...I feel like I have a lot of non-guilty pleasures (maybe I should feel guilty about that!). I try hard to make time for things that are important to me - running, yoga, cooking, and spending as much time as possible with my two girls, my family, and my friends.
What makes you Mighty? My dedication and loyalty....I'm dedicated to my job, my commitments, and the people I love.
What’s your yoga story? I started yoga right after college and regularly took Iyengar classes with Jess Rogers. When her studio moved, I stopped going, but always really missed it. After a decade off, I found Mighty and I've happily been practicing ever since.
If you had a super power what would it be and why? I would be able to teleport. I love to travel and experience new things, having the ability to pop over to a new place, new country, or over to Seneca Lake for a glass of wine would be the best!
What's the best advice you've ever received? My grandmother always taught me to be independent - that no matter what, it was important to be able to take care of yourself.
