Emily Becrow
I’m an Ithaca native, lifelong vegetarian, athlete, and nature lover! I’ve been practicing yoga for 15+ years and approach my practice from a beginner’s mindset and aim to remain a lifelong student. I am 500 hr RYT certified and hold additional certifications in Yoga Therapy and Neuroscience-Informed Pranayama.
I practice yoga as a moving meditation. One that creates heat (tapas) through posture (asana) and supports focus, oneness, and concentration. These practices have helped me deepen my relationship with myself and the external environment.
My yoga practice was initially about physical fitness and ego; I was good at the practice without much effort. As my practice evolved, my intention shifted to being about how each pose feels in my body, how it supports my mood state, and how it grounds me. My practice today embodies a focus on curiosity and self-inquiry.
My teachings weave together yoga therapeutics and pranayama to enhance balance, vitality, and stillness of mind. I combine Asana with Pranayama (breath) to create a dynamic expression and illustrate one's ability to attune to the nervous system via the breath.
In addition to teaching yoga and breathwork, I am currently in graduate school at Columbia University for my MSW. I enjoy spending time with my two dogs (Tehya & Levy) and lovely husband! I enjoy hiking and spending time with family and friends. I also love to play soccer and am a coffee and produce (fruits & veggies) snob!
I look forward to sharing in these ancient traditions and am excited to guide and flow alongside you!
